Attorney David W. Fischer has been recognized as one of Maryland's best criminal defense attorneys. More recently, Mr. Fischer won an acquittal in United States vs. Thomas Caldwell (2022), the most high-profile seditious conspiracy prosecution in federal court in Washington, D.C. arising out of the January 6th Capitol "insurrection" Oath Keepers prosecution. The defendant in that case, Thomas Caldwell, was allegedly the mastermind behind the January 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol; his acquittal shocked the D.C. press corps, who characterized it as the best outcome of any January 6 defendant.

Mr. Fischer has won more than 750 acquittals in his career. In 2003, Mr. Fischer was named to the prestigious Criminal Justice Act panel of the U.S. District Court, District of Maryland. He has appeared in every courthouse across Maryland, state and federal, and has represented clients in federal courts in Virginia and Washington, D.C. His list of former clients includes professional athletes, Washington politicians, Maryland elected officials, lawyers, and, overwhelmingly, ordinary citizens who find themselves in trouble with the law. Mr. Fischer is a 1995 honors graduate of the University of Maryland Law School, where he served as an editor of the Maryland Law Review.
